Trade delegation promotes Taiwanese products

“Both officials expressed full support for our delegation whose 45 members are representing 31 companies engaged in various sectors of industry,” said Susan Wang, delegation head.
Wang is also the chairperson and managing director of Taiwan-Africa Business Association and AFTA Technology Co. Ltd., respectively.

Representative Jin-Jong Lin of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) and W. K.Lai, economic counselor, accompanied the delegation. Both officials expressed optimism that the visit will not only boost ties but also increase the bilateral trade volume.

On Monday, the delegation met with local counterparts who showed interest in the various products offered, which ranged from machinery, air-conditioning equipment and consumer electronics to building materials, and metals and hardware products.

Wang was upbeat that her company could finally finalize a joint venture with a local firm, Bin Taleb Group in the plastic industry.
“We’re ready to transfer technology on plastic recycling as well as technology management. We manufacture products from recycled waste plastic,” she said.

Amy Yu, operations director of Ray Fu Enterprise, expressed optimism that her visit will open up opportunities for her firm, which is engaged in the manufacture of high quality steel wires and fasteners.

“Ray Fu is capable of exporting all kinds of wires and fasteners and supplies standard specification as well as customized specification,” she said.

Johnson Gerald Richard, sales manager of Screwtech Industry Co. Ltd., added that he was hoping his visit will yield a good result for his company.

“Screwtech specializes in the manufacture of special and precision screw, special parts, pins, assemblies for automotive, electronics and related industries. We can also do machined parts, springs and stampings,” he said.

Anis Bouhaddi of Sunroad Rivnut Co. Ltd., expressing the same sentiment said: “We spent years specializing in rivet nut production and we are awarded ISO 9001:2000. But we are also adopting the ideas of TS-16949 to modify our organization systems.”

The delegation left for Jeddah on Tuesday where they will meet with Saudi businessmen as well.

Local businessmen, on the other hand, likewise expressed happiness over meeting the trade delegation.

Khaled Aydieh, general manager of Aydieh Trading Corp., said that he was updated on the latest products, which his company deals in.

“I was late in coming though. I was outside the Saudi capital when I got the call about the Taiwanese product exhibition. I am happy that I have finally come.”

The delegation’s visit is under the auspices of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
